By Molly Jane Kremer and Jarrod Jones. Happy New Comic Book  Day! This week, in celebration of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, MJ & Jarrod are feeling the Force! They speak with Jason Aaron, writer of ‘Star Wars’ for Marvel Comics, and Jason Gibner, co-host of the Blast Points podcast about — yup — Star Wars comics! Then they review ‘Hawkeye’ #1 and “Rockstars” #1.

Rockstars #1

Image Comics/$3.99

Written by Joe Harris.

Art by Megan Hutchison.

Colors by Kelly Fitzpatrick.

Letters by Michael David Thomas.

Design by Tom Muller.

Edited by Shawna Gore.

JJ: Rockstars is a deliciously intriguing read, scintillating enough to linger with you long after you’ve taken it in, like last night’s finaly shot of tequila. And it burns just as thoroughly. Pair it with the most immersive and scuzzy album you own. You’ll find it fits perfectly.

Hawkeye #1

Marvel Comics/$3.99

Written by Kelly Thompson.

Art by Leonardo Romero.

Colors by Jordie Bellaire.

Letters by Joe Sabino.

MJ: In Hawkeye #1, writer Kelly Thompson returns Hawkeye Kate Bishop to the sunny beaches of Southern California without giving us (too much) deja vu for Fraction/Wu’s “LA Woman”. Thompson’s clever, quick dialogue mixes perfectly with Leonardo Romero and Jordie Bellaire’s gorgeous layouts and dynamic designs to make one of the more fun first issues of the new Marvel Now! debuts.
