By Tommy RobbinsThe wait is over. Batman: The Telltale Series is just two short weeks away.

No, that’s right, you read that correctly. As morbid vigilantism follows pearls hitting the pavement, Batman: The Telltale Series is coming to digital platforms, and it’s coming a hell of a lot earlier than you might have expected.

As we reported last week, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and Telltale Games verified that the highly anticipated Batman/Telltale mashup was looming on the horizon, ready to swing into retail outlets on September 13 (September 16 in Europe). The “Season Pass” disk would contain the first episode with subsequent episodes unlocking for download as they release. But who’s got time for that?

If impatience is burning at you like acid down Harvey Dent’s beautiful face, then we’ve got good news for you. Batman: The Telltale Series’ first episode, titled “Realm of Shadows”, is coming to Steam, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on August 2. As in “two weeks from now” August 2. (When they said “August”, I couldn’t have been the only one who thought that maybe we’d have a month or so to prepare ourselves, right?) So any plans you may have had that evening — going outside, getting some sleep, being an actual human being — are now effectively quashed.

The game’s synopsis follows —

Rendered to look like a living, breathing comic book, Telltale’s vision of Batman will feature an award-winning cast of talent, including   Troy Baker in the role of   Bruce Wayne, Travis Willingham as Harvey Dent, Erin Yvette as  Vicki Vale, Enn Reitel as Alfred Pennyworth, Murphy Guyer as Lieutenant James Gordon, Richard McGonagle as Carmine Falcone, and Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle.

Ready or not, ‘Batman: The Telltale Series’ is coming our way August 2.
