By Matt Fleming. The first full-length trailer for Justin Kurzel’s film adaptation of Macbeth is here, and it looks pretty dang good.
Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard star as the infamous Scottish power-couple, and it appears as though they have put every middle school performance of “that Scottish play” to shame. This shit is dark, and probably amazing.
Not one to fear a curse, Kurzel peppers the trailer with chants of the usurper’s name, prompting the superstitious to show concern for the well-being of Fassbender and Cotillard, two actors who should definitely be in more films together.
While high school dramatists across the American southwest search for landscapes that rival those seen in this trailer, the Australian filmmaker prepares for his next (presumably beautiful) adaptation, Assassin’s Creed. By the looks of his Shakespeare, Kurzel might be the first man to absolutely nail “the video game” movie.
