By Tommy Robbins. If you put your ear to the ground, you’ll hear the clamor. Red Dead Redemption 2 has been confirmed. The rush for preorders will soon begin.
That’s right! The 2010 classic western action-adventure that ushered us into a wider arena of open world sandboxes is back to claim the only remaining plot in our hearts.
Rockstar began their week a little early, starting Sunday with a simple red screen. Across Twitter, Facebook, and their blog — a very specific shade of red. The internet began to writhe with anticipation. Then came a more implicit red screen, only this time George Harrison must have been smiling down on us, because with it came the sun, cresting over the horizon and some very distinct figures looming in the distance.

Today is Tuesday and we all awoke to validation — Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming, for really-real, in Fall 2017 to PlayStation and Xbox One systems. Not much else was known as of Tuesday afternoon; all we know is that the game will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor while bringing a little something extra to the mix.
From the Rockstar press release: “An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”
So, we’ve got multiplayer in a Red Dead title? Sign me up. In the meanwhile, Rockstar has promised even more teases, with a new announcement trailer scheduled for this coming Thursday.
Fall 2017 is still a good bit away, but Rockstar has definitely created the excitement they were looking for.
