By Jarrod Jones. Friday morning brought with it sad news: Darwyn Cooke, Eisner Award winning illustrator and writer of such vital works as DC: The New Frontier, Catwoman and the indelible Richard Stark’s Parker series, is battling an “aggressive” form of cancer.
The news comes from the creator’s wife, Marsha, by way of Cooke’s blog, Almost Darwyn Cooke. That post, titled “Fuck Cancer,” has shaken the comics industry to the core, a palpable and humbling reminder of how well-loved the artist is to so many people.
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce Darwyn is now receiving palliative care following a bout with aggressive cancer. His brother Dennis and I, along with our families appreciate the outpouring of support we have received. We ask for privacy as we go through this very difficult time.
