by Scott Duvall. Hey, all! I’m Scott and I wrote the Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep crossover featuring art by Vincenzo Federici, colors by Michele Monte, and letters by Taylor Esposito. The final issue is available now from Dynamite/IDW at your local comic shop as well as digitally and we hope you’ll check it out!
As the co-star of our comic is one of the most famous musicians who ever lived, it should come as no surprise that his music helped to inspire the creative process. I love a good movie soundtrack, and because the colliding of these two cult movies felt like a midnight popcorn flick waiting to happen, it seemed appropriate to provide it with a soundtrack of its own.
This is purely a just-for-fun-and-in-no-way-required-listening-playlist, so if you prefer to enjoy your comic in silence, you’re not missing a thing. But if you feel inclined to re-read it with this on in the background, who knows, maybe you can trick yourself into believing you’re seeing it up on the silver screen for a page or two. You’re allowed to dream! That’s what got us here.
So here’s the concluding volume to our Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep soundtrack. You’ll notice there’s only three songs this time instead of four; the final issue is paced a little differently than the previous ones and the second song is a tad longer, so I just went with what fit!
Anyways, enjoy the playlist and thanks to DoomRocket for hosting us!
Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep Soundtrack Vol. 4
1) Elvis Presley – Burning Love
I was saving this particular song for the finale since the very beginning. Yeah, it’s a tad on the nose, but it still works beautifully with this sequence, so I stand by this selection.
2) The Dead Weather – So Far From Your Weapon
The Death Weather make their second appearance on the soundtrack with this final volume and rightly so, their songs are so atmospheric. A great addition to any soundtrack, this song from the The Dead Weather builds great tension during the middle of the fight scene.
3) Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire
(SPOILERS ahead)
I couldn’t think of a better song for Ash and Elvis to ride off into the sunset together with, flaming mansion in the background. Johnny Cash seemed like the perfect artist that they both could agree on for road trip music.
