by Jarrod Jones. For the realists out there, bad luck is a matter of circumstance. For the whimsical, it’s karma. In Bad Luck Chuck, bad luck is a commodity, something that can be yours to wield for a price.
In this “slapstick noir” from writer Lela Gwenn and artist Matthew Dow Smith (with colorist Kelly Fitzpatrick and letterer Frank Cvetkovic), Charlene “Chuck” Manchester has been stuck on a rollercoaster through the karmic cycle her entire life. Her curse of bad luck, however, has an intriguing edge to it: she can cast misfortune in the direction of other people, for good or ill. Let’s say someone were to slide you a dog-eared business card with Chuck’s name on it. You’d be well-advised to keep that sucker holstered; you never know when you might want to hire Chuck to blight the fortunes of those in your way.
Of course, as any freelance gumshoe, bounty hunter, or charlatan of chance will tell you, parlaying in the misfortunes of others will only net you trouble—regardless of your possession of a lucky rabbit’s foot or four-leaf clover.
That’s right: Bad Luck Chuck is back. Ahead of its May 29 release, Dark Horse Comics has asked DoomRocket to share this exclusive first-look at Bad Luck Chuck #3, and from the looks of things our eponymous Chuck is currently getting kicked in the ass by her own brand of kismet. Unburdened by the local police department of her (good) luck charms, Chuck has one phone call to make—and she’d better make sure it’s the right one.

From Dark Horse Comics: Cursed at birth, Charlene ”Chuck” Manchester hires out her own bad luck, providing disaster where someone else can profit.
A warehouse job goes wrong–meaning Chuck destroys the place according to plan, but the authorities finally catch up to her–not to mention the curse she’s run from her whole life. A vengeful cult leader, a mob matriarch, and an insurance investigator on a quest finally have her where they want her. But Chuck won’t let bad luck stop her, even if she has to seek out allies she turned her back on a long time ago.
