by Jarrod Jones. In the distant future, there exists a space vessel captained by a man named Olivier, who is dim and rude and drawn to look like Oliver Platt. It is manned by a diverse crew of subordinates who all express various forms of what news and culture outlets refer to as “soft quitting.” Among the ship’s many goings-on is the banal cover-up of the accidental death of its first officer. (It’s all a big misunderstanding.) Also: the captain’s new pressboard desk won’t fit through the door of his office. These are the voyages of the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush.
Space Job is a comic that is currently published by Dark Horse Comics and is written by a big-time Star Trek fan and television producer named David A. Goodman. Goodman has also worked on Futurama, Family Guy, and The Orville, so a lot of what Space Job is doing should begin to make more sense. It’s got clean, appropriately sterile artwork courtesy of Álvaro Sarraseca and Jordi Escuin Llorach. Mauro Mantella has lettered the series.
If Star Trek: Discovery meets The Office sounds like something you might want to check out, Space Job #1 is currently available in comic shops, and be advised: issue #2 drops on March 8. In the meantime, courtesy of Dark Horse, DoomRocket has an exclusive first look at Space Job #2 that you can read, free of charge.

From Dark Horse Comics: Captain Olivier knows himself to be a man of unimpeachable integrity. A man who does whatever it takes to bring democracy to the galaxy, which means doing whatever it takes to protect the lives of his crew, which means doing whatever it takes to keep his ship far, far away from the battle raging at the Bungo Straits. A democracy without someone flying the cargo runs is no democracy at all.
