The first teaser trailer to HBO’s absurdly popular True Detective series has hit online, and it’s as morbidly dark and painfully angsty as you’d imagine.
This second season casts Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell as the morally compromised men who’ll grunt existential ponderings at each other while the world around them goes straight to the shitter. But they’re not alone. Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch will co-star as the wacky detective duo whose zany misadventures bring the whole, depressing saga full-circle, while justifying series creator Nic Pizzolatto’s larger scope (and budget).
True Detective is looking to ruin your summer, so take the necessary precautions. (Like, say, go to the beach now and enjoy the horizon before it becomes an endless abyss that seems to be calling you home.)
True Detective premieres on HBO June 21.
